Keldon Johnson, the longest tenured member of the squad shared,

“Seeing how positive everybody is when going through such a tough time is really big for us. It wasn’t really hard for us to really get up for the moment or be excited for this moment. When we came into this atmosphere it was amazing. So many smiles, so many tears, so much love.”

The Spurs traveled in two buses along Texas State Highway 39 giving them a much more cohesive view of the damage between Kerrville and Ingram.

Spurs head coach Mitch Johnsons addressed the crowd,

“I think it’s important for all of us to be out here because this is part of our community. It’s not any different for the Spurs than for anybody hopefully that is part of the community and neighborhood. You see people that are a part of your city or your area in need, you want to be able to support them in any way you can.”

Despite the celebrity and size of the group, the Spurs trip was kept under wraps. Instead of continuing on their regular schedule, the students were ushered into their gym.

A student shared,

“It means a lot because it shows that we’re not just a small town. Other people are coming out since the flood happened. It shows that they care for us.”
