Victor Wembanyama is set to open his third NBA season against an all-too-familiar foe.
The Spurs will tip off the 2025-26 campaign on Oct. 22 with a nationally televised tilt at Dallas. The league announced that game Tuesday as part of its opening-week festivities.
It will mark the third season in a row the Spurs will open against the Mavericks, and the second in a row the Spurs will open at American Airlines Center. The Spurs lost both of the previous meetings.
In addition to marking Wembanyama’s return to the floor after missing the final three months of last season with a blood clot issue, the Oct. 22 game will feature a face-off between the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in this year’s NBA draft. That would be Dallas’ Cooper Flagg and the Spurs’ Dylan Harper, respectively.
The NBA also formally announced the Spurs’ second consecutive Christmas Day appearance, a Dec. 25 showdown at Oklahoma City.
The remainder of the 2025-26 schedule is slated to be unveiled Thursday.
