San Antonio Spurs guard David Jones-Garcia shoots a three pointer during the second quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Spurs summer sensation David Jones-Garcia has been named to the first team of the All-Las Vegas Summer League squad.
The 23-year-old guard, who played last season with the Mexico City Capitanes of the G League, appeared in five games in Vegas, averaging 21.6 points while shooting 52.7% overall and 52.9% from 3-point range.
He was the darling of the summer for a Spurs squad that finished its Las Vegas run 4-1.
“I owe a lot to San Antonio,” Jones-Garcia said. “They welcomed me with open arms.”
Joining Jones-Garcia on the first team from Vegas are the Los Angeles Clippers’ Jordan Milller, Sacramento’s Nique Clifford, Minnesota’s Terrance Shannon Jr., and Utah’s Kyle Filipowski, who was named the Summer League’s MVP.
The second team was comprised of Detroit’s Ron Holland Jr., Sacramento’s Isaac Jones, Charlotte’s Kon Knueppel and K.J. Simpson, and Oklahoma City’s Ajay Mitchell.
The honor capped a breakout summer for Jones-Garcia, who was also named to the first team of the California Classic in San Francisco prior to the Spurs’ arrival in Las Vegas.
What’s next for the Dominican guard remains to be seen.
Reports out of Europe indicate Jones-Garcia has declined an offer to play for Greek power Olympiacos in order to continue to pursue NBA opportunities.
“Whatever happens at the end of the summer, it happens,” said Jones-Garcia, who played his college ball at Memphis and was coached by former NBA great Anfernee Hardaway. “I’m in God’s hands.”
It seems a safe bet Jones-Garcia’s sizzling summer should at least propel him to a training camp invitation in the fall, either with the Spurs or another NBA club.
The Spurs have roster room, with two full NBA spots available as well as all three two-way slots.
Before leaving Las Vegas, Spurs Summer League coach Mike Noyes left little doubt where he thinks Jones-Garcia should wind up.
“He is a phenomenal player,” Noyes said. “He belongs on an NBA court.”
