Report: David Jones-Garcia turns down Olympiacos offer, remains committed to the NBA

2025 NBA Summer League - San Antonio Spurs v Philadelphia 76ers

There must be plenty of NBA interest, whether it’s the Spurs or elsewhere.

David Jones-Garcia should have no shortage of offers after his Summer League breakout with the Spurs, and while we have yet to hear anything specific from the NBA side, he has reportedly stated his commitment to league. According the Spurs Reporter (literally) Dusty Garza, Jones-Garcia turned down a three-year, €2.2 million offer from Greek club Olympiacos to stay in the NBA.

Whether it’s with the Spurs or another NBA team, David Jones-Garcia is staying states side. While Garza says it’s €2.2 million per year, others are saying it was across three years, so not quite as lucrative but still much more than a standard G League contract. Regardless, if this is true, it would suggest that there is enough interest from the NBA side that Jones-Garcia felt comfortable turning down the offer from overseas. Whether that interest is from the Spurs or another team remains to be seen, but if there’s one thing for hopeful Spurs fans to keep in mind, it’s that there’s probably other teams who can offer him a more guaranteed role than the Spurs can, especially if he wants a guaranteed contract and not just two-way.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Jones-Garcia is a 6’6” swingman who went undrafted last year before spending the majority of his first season playing for the G League’s Mexico City Capitanes, where he averaged 24.5 points on 48.4% shooting (34.3% from three), 7.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals. His name was put on the map in the much more visible Summer League, where he averaged 22.7 points (47.1% from three) in the California Classic and 21.3 points (50% from three) in the Las Vegas Summer League for the Spurs.

Whether it’s with the Spurs or somewhere else, he has earned his shot in the NBA, and considering his decision to stay on this side of the pond, it sounds like that chance is coming.
