Jeremy Sochan shows off his new and improved jump shot in workout video
It’s never smart to read too much into offseason workout videos, but it’s undeniable that Sochan’s form has gotten better.
One of the great things about the offseason is that it allows for unbridled optimism. Players spend these months working on their flaws, so it’s not crazy to assume they’ll make a leap. From adding muscle to developing a skill, it all seems possible, which is why a video of Jeremy Sochan shooting threes in an empty gym is enough to get fans excited.
Very, very slight hitch at the peak of his shot still, but you can’t deny that his form has gotten more fluid since entering the league
Jeremy Sochan was already on my watch list to continue breaking out in ‘25-26, and becoming a better, more consistent shooter is key to that pic.twitter.com/jjgWY8bb6q

Sochan posted his workout to Instagram on June 9, and it got social media buzzing about it. He’s been working hard on tweaking his form for years now, and it seems to be paying off. Does he look like Klay Thompson? Obviously not, as there’s still a small hitch in his shot, but the jumper looks more fluid, and he seems to be releasing it a lot quicker now.
Shooting is by far Sochan’s biggest weakness, and one that could limit his ceiling. He’s a career 29 percent three-point shooter on mainly wide-open looks, as defenses constantly help off him. He’s managed to limit the negative impact of his lack of range by getting offensive rebounds and scoring on cuts to the basket, but playing like a center doesn’t seem like a long-term solution. For Sochan to be at his best, he’ll need to pair his elite perimeter defense with a passable jumper.
It will likely take a while for him to become a credible outside threat, but as long as he keeps making incremental improvements to his form, he could eventually get there. It’s great to see that Sochan is willing to put in the work to make it happen.
