The NBA playoffs officially kick off tomorrow with four games. The first game of the afternoon is between the 4th seed Indiana Pacers and their division rival Milwaukee Bucks who finished the season two games behind nabbing the 5th seed.
The Pacers only tie to the San Antonio Spurs is assistant coach Jim Boylen who was with the Spurs from 2013-2015, earning a title in that 2014 Dynasty title run.
The Bucks tie to the Spurs is through head coach Doc Rivers, who suited up for the Silver & Black from 1994-1996.
Forward Taurean Prince also grew up in San Antonio, playing high school ball for Earl Warren High School.
Otherwise, the rooting on this one is gut instinct.
I’m digging the Pacers. They have been building a a solid contender, improving their record each year since 2021-2022.

Their centerpiece is still Giannis Antetokounmpo, but they have continued to build around the two-time MVP. That said, the Bucks are the reigning NBA Cup Champions, depending on much weight you put into that competition.
The addition of Damian Lillard was meant to up their game, but he recently suffered deep vein thrombosis, same affliction that sidelined Victor Wembanyama. Fortunately for the Bucks, Lillard has been cleared and is off the blood-thinning medication, though he will still sit out Game 1. He could be back for Game 2.
Either way, I see the Pacers taking the series, but expect it to go the distance. The Bucks beat the Pacers in three of the four matchups this season, and the games were close.
Prediction: Pacers in 7.
