MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE - JANUARY 02: Bismack Biyombo #18 of the Memphis Grizzlies shoots against Victor Wembanyama #1 of the San Antonio Spurs during the first half at FedExForum on January 02, 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee.

ORLANDO, Fla. – With a combination of trade season and injuries ravaging their frontcourt depth, the Spurs have reached an agreement to sign journeyman center Bismack Biyombo to a 10-day contract.

News of the deal was reported by NBA insider Chris Haynes, citing league sources.

A veteran of 13 NBA seasons, the 32-year-old Biyombo has posted career averages of 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his career.

The 6-foot-8 Biyombo would serve as a short-term option in the Spurs’ quest for depth behind All-Star center Victor Wembanyama.

On Monday, the team traded backup center Zach Collins to Chicago as part of the three-team deal that brought De’Aaron Fox into the fold. The same night, lone remaining backup center Charles Bassey went down with a left knee sprain.

The injury is expected to keep Bassey shelved at least until the All-Star break, creating a need for the Congo-born Biyombo.

The No. 7 overall pick in 2011, Biyombo has bounced around since entering the league in Charlotte. The Spurs will be his seventh team, a list that also includes Toronto, Orlando, Phoenix, Memphis and Oklahoma City.
