ATLANTA - The Spurs on Tuesday night upgraded newly acquired guards De’Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin to available for Wednesday’s game at Atlanta.
Fox and McLaughlin came to the Spurs via a blockbuster three-team trade completed Monday. The Spurs on Tuesday afternoon initially listed them as questionable because the trade was pending because all seven players involved in the deal had not yet completed their physicals.
In addition to Sacramento sending Fox and McLaughlin to San Antonio, the Kings traded Kevin Huerter to Chicago. The Spurs shipped Tre Jones and Zach Collins to Chicago and Sidy Cissoko to the Kings. Chicago traded Zach LaVine to Sacramento.
The Spurs also listed point guard Chris Paul as questionable for Wednesday night with a sprained left index finger and backup center Charles Bassey as out with a sprained medial collateral ligament.
Bassey suffered the injury in a collision with Memphis’ Jake LaRavia with 8:27 left in Monday night’s 128-109 loss at Memphis. Bassey sank a pair of free throws after LaRavia was whistled for a foul before exiting the game for good with 7:39 left.
Bassey finished the game with four points and two rebounds in seven minutes.
It’s another knee injury for the San Antonio St. Anthony alumnus after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in December 2023 while playing in a game for the Spurs’ G League affiliate in Austin.
After surgery and rehab, the fourth-year big man returned to the court during the preseason last October after a 10-month absence.
For the season, Bassey is averaging 4.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 10.8 minutes over 32 games.
