The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, but three deals involving several All-Stars have sent shock waves across the league.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers traded Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick for Dallas Mavericks front man Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris. Later that day, the Sacramento Kings traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a multiteam deal that sent the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine to the Kings.

Then on Wednesday, the Jimmy Butler saga came to an apparent end, with sources telling ESPN’s Shams Charania that the Heat agreed to send the six-time All-Star to the Golden State Warriors, and Butler quickly agreed to a contract extension with the Warriors.

Who else could be on the move between now and the deadline? We’ll have the latest reports and news from our NBA insiders from around the league.

Don’t expect it, as ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on the halftime show during Wednesday’s Suns-Thunder game. “All signs point to Kevin Durant remaining with the Phoenix Suns for the second half of this season,” Charania said. “Kevin Durant never requested a trade over the past week or at any point this season.”

Dennis Schroder is headed to the Utah Jazz and Kyle Anderson is going to the Toronto Raptors as part of this multiteam trade. P.J. Tucker, who was just recently acquired by the Jazz from the LA Clippers, is heading back to Miami, where he previously played in 2021-22.

8:25 p.m. ET: New Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler has agreed to a two-year, $121 million extension with the franchise through 2026-27, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst. Butler is declining his 2025-26 player option for this deal.

8:14 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat are finalizing a deal to send Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania.

6:44 p.m. ET: With the Golden State Warriors moving on from their pursuit of Kevin Durant, it appears they have a new player in their sights, as ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on “NBA Countdown”: “The Heat are getting closer and closer. 4:56 p.m. ET: The Washington Wizards are trading Jonas Valanciunas to the Sacramento Kings for Sidy Cissoko and two second-round picks, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

3:34 p.m. ET: The New York Knicks are expected to trade center Jericho Sims by tomorrow’s deadline, sources told ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. Sims, 26, is on a $2 million expiring contract, and several teams are interested in acquiring him.

3:06 p.m. ET: On ESPN’s “NBA Today,” Brian Windhorst said that, understanding scenarios can change, Kevin Durant will likely either remain on the Phoenix Suns or be traded to the Miami Heat by tomorrow afternoon and added there is only one untouchable player in Phoenix. “Everyone on Phoenix, multiple people have told me, everyone is available except Devin Booker.”

3:01 p.m. ET: Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant does not want to be traded back to the Golden State Warriors, according to sources. Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors, winning titles and Finals MVP in 2017 and 2018. Durant has been the subject of multiple trade rumors ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

1:57 p.m. ET: The New Orleans Pelicans are trading center Daniel Theis and draft compensation to the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

12:44 p.m. ET: On ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” Brian Windhorst said Luka Doncic’s response to the trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis matched that of Mavericks fans. “He betrayed nothing [on Tuesday, at the Lakers’ introductory news conference], but from what I understand, he’s seething at [the Mavericks]. And their fan base is seething at their team in a way that I’ve rarely seen before.”

11:45 a.m. ET: The Boston Celtics are trading guard Jaden Springer and their 2030 second-round pick to the Houston Rockets, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. The teams are also exchanging heavily protected future second-round picks.

10:24 a.m. ET: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading KJ Martin and two second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. Coupled with the Caleb Martin-Quentin Grimes move Tuesday, the 76ers are now fully out of the luxury tax for this season.

10:15 a.m. ET: The Milwaukee Bucks are trading Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson and a pick swap to the Washington Wizards for Kyle Kuzma, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and second-round draft compensation, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

9:45 a.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns are “trying like crazy to pull off this miracle” in regard to a Jimmy Butler trade, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on “The Hoop Collective” podcast. If a trade can’t be done involving the Suns, other teams could still be in play for Butler.

“But at some point, if that door closes and they just can’t do anything, Jimmy doesn’t want to be in Miami,” Windhorst said. “And at the end of the day, as you mentioned earlier, a team might call Jimmy’s bluff that he’s really going to walk away from $52 million into a market that doesn’t have that many teams with cap space.”

Butler has previously said he won’t sign extensions with the Memphis Grizzlies or Golden State Warriors.

9:40 a.m. ET: The Los Angeles Lakers could still be looking for a center but would be “trimming around the edges” ahead of the deadline, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks on “SportsCenter.” A bigger deal in the summer would be more likely for the team.

8:49 a.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns don’t have a Bradley Beal trade ahead of the deadline so “they’ve begun entertaining” Kevin Durant trades across the league, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on “Get Up.”

The Golden State Warriors have emerged as a possible landing spot with three, four or five teams potentially being involved in a trade, per Windhorst.

“It could involve Jimmy Butler,” Windhorst said. “It sounds complicated, it is. … I do not want to imply anything is going to happen. I have no idea how you go back on this if it doesn’t work because now the world knows, the world does know the Warriors are trying to get KD back.”

Feb. 4

6:34 p.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns have listed Kevin Durant as doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant is 26 points shy of 30,000 and the subject of trade talks. Sources told ESPN that Phoenix has been willing to listen to offers for Durant in recent days.

3:51 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained on “NBA Today” the Golden State Warriors’ strategy ahead of the deadline: “Other than Stephen Curry, everything is on the table.”

That includes a potential reunion with Kevin Durant, though the Phoenix Suns previously have stated they have no intention of trading him.

3:46 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat have not received the type of trade package they want in exchange for Jimmy Butler, ESPN’s Shams Charania said on “NBA Today.”

Both sides have the goal of Butler moving on from Miami, and the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns remain the teams to watch in any trade scenario.

“From the perspective of Jimmy Butler, the Phoenix Suns are the only team he is willing to commit to long term,” Charania said. “[This is] something known in league circles.”

1:02 p.m. ET: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading Caleb Martin to the Dallas Mavericks for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

12:27 p.m. ET: During Luka Doncic’s introductory new conference with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rob Pelinka, the team’s vice president of basketball operations, acknowledged the Lakers’ need for a big, but said the trade market to acquire one is dry. He added a more likely scenario would be the team working do something “along the margins.”

Pelinka added there’s “always urgency” for the Lakers to win championships. But, at the same time, the team needs to be realistic about the level of big that is currently in the market.

“I can’t wave a wand and create that opportunity,” Pelinka said. “We will continue to look for areas to fill out our roster but, as we saw with this trade, it takes two teams.”

11:15 a.m. ET: With only one year remaining on Kevin Durant’s contract, the Phoenix Suns could be open to moving the 15-time NBA All-Star ahead of Thursday’s deadline, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on “First Take.”

8:50 a.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors are going to be “extremely aggressive” in adding a star to a roster currently tied for 10th in the Western Conference, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on “SportsCenter.”

“I wouldn’t guarantee a deal gets made, but they’re being aggressive,” Windhorst added.

The Warriors have talked to several teams about potential stars, including Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler and Zach LaVine before LaVine was traded on Sunday night.

12:13 a.m. ET: Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone quieted rumors that Michael Porter Jr. could be dealt this week.

“No, because we’re not trading Michael Porter,” Malone said after the Nuggets’ win over New Orleans on Monday. "So, I’m not touching base with anybody on that.

“And if there’s something coming, obviously, [Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth] will talk with me, and I’m sure we’ll communicate with whatever players. But Michael is a really important piece. He helped us win a championship.”

Feb. 3

11:28 p.m. ET: The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Charlotte Hornets announced the teams had traded future second-round picks. The Thunder acquired a 2030 conditional second-round pick (originally owned the Denver Nuggets) from Charlotte, who received a 2029 second-rounder (originally owned by the Phoenix Suns).

6:18 p.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors have shown interest in Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Warriors coach Steve Kerr has been playing Quinten Post as the starting center in recent games.

6:15 p.m. ET: After making a big trade for five-time All-Star Luka Doncic, the Lakers are still looking at moves on the margins, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. “Expect bigger moves from the Lakers in the offseason as they get a wider pool of potential options,” Charania added on “SportsCenter.”

3:58 p.m. ET: Is Zion Williamson a trade candidate before the deadline? Andscape senior writer Marc J. Spears said the New Orleans Pelicans, who just lost Dejounte Murray to a season-ending Achilles injury, are a team to watch.

“They may have had a meeting on Saturday after losing Murray for the calendar year. There is a 50/50 chance of Brandon Ingram getting moved. And keep an eye on CJ McCollum, who would like an extension as well,” Spears said on “NBA Today.”

3:50 p.m. ET: The addition of Luka Doncic could persuade LeBron James to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“[James] has a player option this summer that we assume he will pick up. There is a chance that he will renegotiate a new deal and this Luka Doncic addition could extend LeBron James’ career,” McMenamin said on “NBA Today” on Monday. “It’s not a given that next year will be his last year in the NBA.”

McMenamin reported Sunday that James, 40, will remain with the Lakers beyond Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, setting up the four-time MVP to form the latest superstar tandem of his career.

3:35 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Bobby Marks, appearing on “NBA Today,” detailed the possible next steps for the Chicago Bulls after Sunday’s deal that sent Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings.

“Three names to keep an eye on [in Chicago]: Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic and certainly Coby White. Look for Chicago to keep on building up their draft assets that they’ve started to accumulate here in the Zach LaVine trade,” Marks said.

1:22 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Shams Charania spoke on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday about how the Golden State Warriors want to add a superstar player to pair with Stephen Curry before the trade deadline.

“The Warriors are legitimately calling about every All-Star player. Just name the All-Star player … LeBron [James], players like Kevin Durant, players like Jimmy Butler,” Charania said.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported earlier that Butler told the Warriors that he is not interested in signing a contract extension there.

Feb. 2

9:30 p.m. ET: Jimmy Butler has communicated to the Warriors that he’s unwilling to sign an extension with the team and, therefore, trade talks to send him to Golden State have ended for now, sources told ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

8:29 p.m. ET: The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal that will send De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a multiteam trade that will also move the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine to the Kings, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. The Bulls will receive Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter and their own 2025 first-round pick.

1:21 p.m. ET: LeBron James intends to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers beyond Thursday’s trade deadline, a source familiar with James’ plans told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, confirming a report by Chris Haynes. James is one of two NBA players with a true no-trade clause in his contract (Bradley Beal is the other) and would have to approve any trade sending him out of Los Angeles.

1:44 a.m. ET: In the wake of the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks, the NBA is turning its attention to LeBron James and his no-trade clause, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports.

“That is the discussion that is happening now throughout the league. … The Lakers have won eight of 10. They are playing their best basketball of the season, and they don’t have a starting center, so they’re obviously going to have to make some move here. But the Lakers are going to have to go to LeBron and get a feel from him. He has total control over this.”

12:12 a.m. ET: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Feb. 1

1:25 p.m. ET: The LA Clippers are trading forward P.J. Tucker, center Mo Bamba, a future second-round pick and cash to the Utah Jazz for forward Drew Eubanks and guard Patty Mills, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Bobby Marks.

Jan. 31

9:13 p.m. ET: Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns that he thinks his team is a playoff contender but doesn’t have “enough to separate ourselves from the rest of the West.”

“We do, I think we have shown that,” Kerr said of having a playoff-caliber roster. "But we have also shown that we don’t have enough to separate ourselves from the rest of the West. So I think the point is, we’re not in a position where we can just say, ‘Nah, we’re good. Let’s just stand pat.’ That’s the reality of where we are.

“So [GM Mike Dunleavy Jr.] is doing his due diligence. If there is something that makes sense, he is going to do it. If not, I am very comfortable going forward with this team because I know what we are capable of, I believe in the guys and hopefully try to capture a little momentum here. We have an opportunity for that.”

Entering Friday, only four games separated fourth place and 11th place, which is where Golden State was, in the Western Conference. The Warriors are currently among the teams discussing a trade for Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler.

9:25 a.m. ET: The Atlanta Hawks have their eye on New Orleans Pelicans wing Brandon Ingram, sources told ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “They just lost their starting wing, Jalen Johnson, for the season,” Windhorst said on “Get Up.” “They may start to get interested in making a move, especially for Brandon Ingram.”

Jan. 30

3:34 p.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors have dipped their toes back into the trade market, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

Golden State beat the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday but is struggling to stay in the postseason picture. If the season ended today, the 11th-place Warriors would not advance to the play-in tournament.

“[That’s why] you keep hearing the Warriors’ name in trade talks,” Windhorst said on “NBA Today.”

7:30 a.m. ET: The Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns are still searching for a third and fourth team to make a Jimmy Butler deal work, ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported on “SportsCenter.” The Heat still have no interest in taking back the two years and $111 million left on Bradley Beal’s contract, even after the Suns picked up three tradable first-round picks from the Utah Jazz last week.

Jan. 29

6:45 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reported on “SportsCenter” that a league source told him the Golden State Warriors are interested in a move ahead of the tradeline, but only if it’s at the right price.

Earlier this week, ESPN’s Shams Charania said the Warriors are among the teams interested in Jimmy Butler after the Miami Heat lowered the asking price to trade the six-time All-Star, but could be other possible candidates.

“[The Warriors] could take a look at a name like Zach LaVine. Also they could look at a stretch-5, somebody like Nikola Vucevic,” Youngmisuk said.

Along with several future draft picks, Golden State has the expiring contracts of Gary Payton II or Kevon Looney. The team could also use Andrew Wiggins to make a trade.

10:45 a.m. ET: In the 18 hours since the news broke that the Sacramento Kings are open to offers on De’Aaron Fox, they’ve received “dozens of offers,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on “First Take.” The Kings have said they want “win-now” players in return for Fox. The San Antonio Spurs are Fox’s preferred destination, sources told Charania. The Los Angeles Lakers are not among his desired landing spots, sources said.

Jan. 28

6:50 p.m. ET: If the Los Angeles Lakers are to make another trade ahead of the deadline, it could be acquiring another center.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin spoke on “SportsCenter” about the Lakers’ options at that position.

“You can look at a team like Washington with Jonas Valanciunas … LeBron [James] tried to recruit him to the Lakers in the summer,” McMenamin said before adding Portland Trail Blazers big man Robert Williams III as another possibility.

The Lakers have the assets to make a deal, which could include moving forward Rui Hachimura.

"He is the type of young player that has an amenable contract they could attach to draft picks, " McMenamin said.

3:38 p.m. ET: The Sacramento Kings are expecting to open up trade talks about All-Star De’Aaron Fox, with the eighth-year guard having target destinations in mind ahead of 2026 free agency, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

3:36 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Shams Charania spoke on “NBA Today” about the Jimmy Butler trade, saying the Miami Heat are in “active conversations” with “multiple teams” regarding a trade. The Phoenix Suns remain in the mix, as do the Golden State Warriors. According to Charania, the Heat are looking for “shorter-term contracts along with draft assets” to potentially move on from the six-time NBA All-Star.

2:10 p.m. ET: Will the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers make any trades ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline?

“I have not heard almost anything about the Cavs,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst told ESPN Cleveland. “They definitely have had some explanatory conversations … but I’m not hearing anything.”

The Cavaliers are currently $1.9 million over the luxury tax and would be $4.5 million over that threshold next season. If the Cavs were to explore signing a player in the buyout market after the deadline, it could be for a perimeter guard with size who could defend.

“Two guys who could be bought out that fit that bill are Lonzo Ball and Ben Simmons,” Windhorst added.

8:40 a.m. ET: ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on “SportsCenter” with SVP Monday night: “From the sources I’ve been talking to for the last, really 48 hours, but definitely tonight; the Heat’s price [for Jimmy Butler] has dropped. They are willing to do more than they were when this all started last month. The Heat are trying to get this done.”

Jan. 27

4:48 p.m. ET: The Heat issued a statement regarding their decision to suspend Jimmy Butler, stating: “The Miami Heat are suspending Jimmy Butler without pay effective immediately for an indefinite period to last no fewer than five games.”

The Heat added: “The suspension is due to a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services. This includes walking out of practice earlier today.”

4 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat are suspending Butler indefinitely, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. Butler walked out of the Heat’s morning shootaround after he was informed of the team’s decision not to start him moving forward, sources said. Haywood Highsmith will start in Butler’s place.

9:01 a.m. ET: The possibility of a Jimmy Butler trade from the Miami Heat was one of the main topics on "The Hoop Collective’’ podcast Monday. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Tim Bontemps and Tim MacMahon discussed the state of a potential multiteam trade with Miami that would involve sending Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal to the Chicago Bulls.

“The bottom line is that the Bulls and the Suns have talked on the concept of Bradley Beal ending up in Chicago,” Windhorst said. “… I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m not saying it’s close or whatever. Obviously, Beal has a no-trade clause. But Bontemps, I just can’t believe that Chicago would do that deal. So maybe it’s never going to happen, but it’s been discussed. What do you want me to say?”

Butler returns Monday night from a two-game suspension, his second of the month. The Miami Heat aren’t planning to start Butler for tonight against the Orlando Magic and moving forward, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Jan. 23

11:41 p.m. ET: Anthony Davis believes the Los Angeles Lakers are just a couple of pieces away from being a title contender. He hopes one of the pieces the team adds before the Feb. 6 trade deadline is a center.

“I think we need another big,” Davis told ESPN’s Shams Charania. “I feel like I’ve always been at my best when I’ve been the 4, having a big out there.”

5 p.m. ET: Jimmy Butler’s wish “is just to get out of Miami, with the exception to Memphis,” Andscape’s Marc Spears said on “NBA Today,” adding that Butler wants to finish his career “wherever he goes.”

12:30 p.m. ET: There currently “isn’t an end in sight” for the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler trade scenario, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

“They obviously have an asking price that they’ve laid out to teams of players that they feel can help, draft assets and no long-term contracts,” Charania said on First Take. “They’re not any closer to an end.”

Jan. 22

5:08 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat planning to suspend Jimmy Butler for two games after the forward missed a team flight. Butler has repeatedly requested a trade over the last month and recently served a seven-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.

3:50 p.m. ET: The Memphis Grizzlies have the “cleanest path” to a Jimmy Butler trade, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks on NBA Today. With multiple draft assets and moveable contracts – primarily Marcus Smart and Brandon Clarke – the Grizzlies could be in the best position to land Butler.

Memphis’ belief that it could make a deep playoff run this spring may be a selling factor for Butler, according to Marks.

9:30 a.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns trade with the Utah Jazz yesterday now gives the Suns more “optionality moving forward” while pursuing Jimmy Butler, said ESPN’s Bobby Marks on SportsCenter.

Despite the deal, Marks feels three to five teams would still likely be required in a Butler-Bradley Beal deal.

Jan. 21

7:03 p.m. ET: The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 first-round pick to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.

The Suns acquired the least favorable first-round pick in 2025 of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Jazz (protected); in 2027 of Cleveland, Minnesota or Utah; and in 2029 of Cleveland, Minnesota (protected) or Utah.

Jan. 15

3:05 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to sign former New Orleans Pelicans center Trey Jemison on a two-way NBA contract and waiving Quincy Olivari, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania. Jemison has averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds across 41 career NBA games.

4:44 p.m. ET: The Charlotte Hornets are trading center Nick Richards and one second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania, for wing Josh Okogie and three second-round picks. Richards, 27, has averaged 11.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in nine starts this season.

Jan. 14

2:12 p.m. ET: With the league’s best record, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be among the heavy favorites to reach the NBA Finals. That could also bode well for attracting players down the road.

“I’ve had multiple agents tell me that players want to play in Cleveland,” NBA insider Brian Windhorst said on 850 AM ESPN Cleveland.

Windhorst added that part of the reasoning is because Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is willing to pay, as well as the way the team is currently playing.

Under first-year head coach Kenny Atkinson, the team is just the 10th team in NBA history to start 33-5 or better – and the first since the 73-win 2015-16 Golden State Warriors.

12:20 p.m. ET: Disgruntled Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler reiterated to team president Pat Riley in a face-to-face meeting last week that he wants to be traded, league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Butler told Riley that he does not plan to opt into his $52 million contract for 2025-26 with the Heat in the offseason and will not sign a new deal in Miami, sources said.

Jan. 13

11:59 p.m. ET: Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry wants to see the slumping team get better but not at the expense of making a “desperate” move that would “deplete the future” for the franchise.

The Warriors fell under .500 for the first time all season with a 104-101 loss to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Monday, but Curry echoed a season-long sentiment that the team should not make any rash decisions in trades – especially if they have to surrender young players or draft picks.

Jan. 8

7:42 a.m. ET: Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal has had no discussions about waiving his no-trade clause, Mark Bartelstein, Beal’s agent, told ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “Bradley’s total focus is on helping the Suns turn things around,” Bartelstein said.

Phoenix has been linked to Jimmy Butler after the Heat suspended him last week, but the Suns, who are restricted in the trade market due to their status as a second-apron team, would have no functional way to acquire Butler without Beal’s involvement in a deal.

Jan. 7

10:59 a.m. ET: ESPN senior writer Brian Windhorst said the Miami Heat are preparing for the standoff with Jimmy Butler to go past his seven-game suspension because the trade offers for the six-time All-Star “stink.”

“There’s only one team that is ready to pay Jimmy Butler exactly what he wants, and that’s the Phoenix Suns,” Windhorst said on “First Take” before adding that it’s also the team that would have the hardest time bringing him in.

A move to Phoenix for Butler would likely require Suns guard Bradley Beal to waive his no-trade clause. When asked if his new role off the bench had something to do with the trade rumors, Beal says he has not heard anything from the team.

“If so, I need to be addressed because I hold the cards,” he told reporters after his 25-point performance in Monday’s win over the 76ers. “Until I’m addressed and somebody says something different, then I’ll be a Sun.”

Jan. 6

4:37 p.m. ET: Bradley Beal will come off the bench for the Phoenix Suns as the team tries to get back into the playoff mix. Could that signal a potential move in Phoenix ahead of the trade deadline?

Speaking on “NBA Today,” ESPN senior writer Ramona Shelburne said the new role for Bradley (along with Jusuf Nurkic) is about getting the Suns back on track amid a four-game losing streak. After starting the season 8-1, the Suns have struggled and are now 12th in the Western Conference, outside of the play-in spots.

“I know people are going to connect this to [the Suns’] pursuit of Jimmy Butler, but … this is really about trying to spark some better play, they’ve been losing a lot lately,” Shelburne said.

Phoenix was listed as one of Butler’s preferred spots if he gets traded by the Miami Heat, but any deal with the Suns could require them to move Beal, who is making $50 million this season and has a no-trade clause.

4:30 p.m. ET: If the Miami Heat aren’t able to find a suitable trade situation for Jimmy Butler, does the team have any other options?

ESPN insider Bobby Marks detailed on “NBA Today” how the team could lean on a unique circumstances clause in the player participation policy to keep Butler away from the team until a solution is found.

“You can send him home, he can collect the rest of his $48.8 million, and when we get to this offseason if there is not a trade by Feb. 6, [Miami can] revisit this, whether it’s Butler opting in and working out a trade, or as he said, becoming a free agent and looking at his options elsewhere,” Marks said.

Butler has a player option for next season for $52 million.

11:14 p.m. ET: Jimmy Butler has indicated to the Miami Heat that he wants the team to trade him, league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst.

The six-time NBA All-Star does not plan to furnish the Heat with a list of favored destinations, sources told ESPN. Butler is open to playing anywhere other than Miami and believes he can make any team a contender. He plans to take part in all Heat activities and do whatever the team asks of him during this process, sources added.

Last week, following an ESPN report Dec. 25 that Butler preferred a trade and had the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks atop his ideal destinations, team president Pat Riley issued a statement that said, in part: “We will make it clear – We are not trading Jimmy Butler.”

Now in his sixth season in Miami, Butler has led the Heat to two NBA Finals berths and one additional Eastern Conference finals appearance.

Dec. 29

12:12 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Lakers are trading D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

It’s a return to Brooklyn for Russell, where he played for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, when he earned his only All-Star selection. The deal also marks the end of Russell’s second stint with the Lakers, who drafted him in 2015 with the No. 2 overall pick before trading him to the Nets in 2017.

Dec. 26

2:02 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat have no plans to trade Jimmy Butler, team president Pat Riley said Thursday.

“We usually don’t comment on rumors, but all this speculation has become a distraction to the team and is not fair to the players and coaches. Therefore, we will make it clear – we are not trading Jimmy Butler,” Riley said in a statement.

Riley’s statement comes a day after league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania that six-time All-Star Butler prefers a trade out of Miami ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline. Butler is open to trade destinations such as the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets, league sources told Charania.

Dec. 25

10:59 a.m. ET: Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler would prefer a trade out of Miami before the February 6 deadline, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. While Butler has not formally requested a trade, both sides appear to be ready to move on and the six-time All-Star would like to be traded to either the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns or Houston Rockets, sources said.

Dec. 22

6:18 p.m. ET: Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Caruso has agreed to a four-year, $81 million contract extension through the 2028-29 season, his agent Greg Lawrence of Wasserman told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday. The deal keeps the two-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection from becoming a free agent.

5:30 p.m. ET: The New York Knicks signed guard Landry Shamet, providing coach Tom Thibodeau’s squad with veteran depth off the bench.

Shamet had signed on with the Knicks in September but was waived after suffering a dislocated shoulder in a preseason game. He played over the past week for the Knicks’ G League affiliate but now joins the main roster.

Thibodeau spoke highly of the guard multiple times throughout training camp, highlighting the ways he would fit in with the club.

Dec. 19

4 p.m. ET: After ESPN insider Bobby Marks released his All-Trade Buzz team, fellow NBA experts Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst discussed the futures of two players on the 10-man list: Zach LaVine and D’Angelo Russell.

Speaking on NBA Today, Bontemps said he expects LaVine to stay with the Chicago Bulls because of his contract situation.

“He’s got a max contract for the next two years … guys with big contracts are going to be difficult to move in this new [collective bargaining agreement] environment that the NBA is in,” Bontemps said.

And what about Russell, who is on an expiring deal with the Los Angeles Lakers?

“I don’t think teams are out there looking to trade for him. I think they’re looking for his contract,” Windhorst said.

Dec. 14

4:20 p.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors have acquired point guard Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for De’Anthony Melton.

The Warriors are also receiving a 2025 second-round pick (via Miami) from the Nets, while Brooklyn gets Reece Beekman and three second-round picks (2026 and 2028 via Atlanta, 2029 via Golden State) in the deal.

Schroder bolsters Warriors coach Steve Kerr’s rotation after Melton, who signed to a one-year deal this offseason, went down with a torn ACL last month and is out for the remainder of the season. Schroder, 31, is on an expiring contract worth $13 million. Beekman appeared in two games for the Warriors this season, scoring two points.

Dec. 13

5:07 p.m. ET: The Miami Heat have traded center Thomas Bryant to the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers are sending a swap of a 2031 second-round pick to the Heat for Bryant. The Pacers had scoured the trade market for a backup center after losing big men Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman to torn Achilles tendons.
