Before Victor Wembanyama burst onto the scene, he seemed like the sort of player you would only be able to create in a video game. Standing nearly 7-foot-4 with arms that stretch for days, a silky jump shot, ball-handling skills and all-galaxy defensive skills, there has never been anyone quite like him.
And though the developers of the uber-popular NBA 2K series haven’t given Wembanyama the top rating just yet, the Spurs’ 20-year-old star is well on his way.
Wembanyama was given an overall rating of 91 for the upcoming NBA 2K25 video game, set to be released Sept. 6. He has the 18th-highest rating and is one of just 20 players in the 90s. Reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic led all players with a rating of 98 overall, followed by Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid (97), Dallas’ Luka Doncic (97), Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo (97) and Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (97)

In last year’s version, Wembanyama began as an 84 overall and improved to an 89 through monthly in-game updates. His 91 in this year’s game likely represents the highest mark for a second-year player in 2K history, which dates back to 1999.
For reference, LeBron James was an 88 in his second season, Luka Doncic was an 87, Zion Williamson was an 86 and Kevin Durant was an 83. Fellow sophomore and 2024 Rookie of the Year runner-up Chet Holmgren received an 87 overall in NBA 2K25.
Wembanyama is the only player with a perfect block rating of 99 in this year’s game while also ranking among the top 10 in defensive rebound and help defense IQ.
Only two others Spurs finished among the top-100 rated players in this year’s game – Chris Paul and Devin Vassell. Both received a rating of 81 to rank 88th and 89th overall, respectively.
Spurs rookie guard Stephon Castle is a 73 overall, the fourth-highest mark among NBA freshmen.
