How in the world did I miss Manu Ginobili’s birthday?

On Saturday, I was at a birthday party where one of the kids was named Ginobili. He was literally fresh on the brain.
And last night my wife was wearing her shirt from Manu’s Hall of Fame jersey reveal. The event was on my birthday. I mean, c’mon.
I miss you, Manu. I mean, I really miss you. The San Antonio Spurs are not the same without you, and there will never be another who plays with your passion.
It always brings a smile to turn on a game and see him in the seats observing. Something safe in his presence.
Last year, when Wemby was drafted, there was this great photo of him at dinner with Manu, David Robinson, Sean Elliott, and Tim Duncan. And there was comfort in knowing Ginobili was one of the legends sharing in the collective wisdom, culture, and care being passed to the next generation.
It’s great that he is still here with the team building this next generation of players, defining the next era of Spurs basketball.
