After the Spurs selected him in the second round in June 2023, Cissoko spent most of last season with the club’s G League affiliate in Austin. In 12 games with the Spurs, he averaged 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists but had some solid outings in the final four games when he averaged 24.5 minutes, 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals.
In 23 games for Austin, Cissoko averaged 29.3 minutes, 15.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He registered two 20-point games, including a season-high 22 points and nine rebounds on Dec. 28.
“He is getting minutes with the G League,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said in February. “I want him to get as many minutes as possible. He is doing the best he can and trying to figure out what kind of player he is going to be, just like everybody else in the G League.”
