For the first time ever, the second round of the NBA Draft was moved to a second day, so it was quite a wait to get to this point. (While I appreciate breaking up the long night and understand that the second round is not exactly primetime material, having it during work/commute hours is not exactly ideal.) After selecting Stephon Castle at 4th and trading away the 8th pick in the first round, the Spurs began today at 35th and 48th (via the Lakers).
They started off by throwing us another whopper by swapping the the 35th pick (where they selected Johnny Furphy) with the Indiana Pacers for cash considerations and the 36th pick: Spanish point guard Juan Nunez.

At 6’4”, Nunez has good size for a point guard and is well known for his court vision and feel for the game. He was widely considered one of the best pick-and-roll facilitators in the draft. Like just about every other guard in this draft, there are questions about his outside shot and he is considered a pass-first player, but he has been a quick riser on the world stage over the last year.
