@TrashTalk_fr pic.twitter.com/K1vAGgfDlY

And despite some unnecessary freaking out from fans, trading the 8th pick won’t change that.
The first round of the NBA draft has passed, and the general consensus is the Spurs were winners with the selection of Stephon Castle at 4th overall. (And while a lot of Spurs fans seem upset at trading away the 8th pick for assets that won’t kick in until the next decade, folks who can take a moment to see the long view will understand this was a perfectly reasonable move and good for the future.)
The entire goal right now is building around Victor Wembanyama, and while he trusts PATFO to do their job, he no doubt has some insight. This is the first big Spurs move he has been around for (we’re not counting last season’s free agency), so seeing him express excitement about Castle in multiple places is certainly encouraging.
He is currently over in France fulfilling national team obligations, but here he is video chatting with a starstruck Castle after the draft, expressing his genuine excitement with the pick and eagerness to start working together.

He also said just as much during a press conference at the French team’s media day.

Translation: “I am very happy about this selection (Stephon Castle), one of the most NBA Ready players of this Draft and a very good person too. We are paying a lot of attention to him at the Spurs.”
So there you go. While I’m seeing an unusual amount of people freaking out over trading the 8th pick (Rob Dillingham) to Minnesota, with some even saying this is a move that will lead to Wemby leaving, hopefully this will calm some nerves. It’s pretty absurd to think he would leave the Spurs over them not using a pick that they had a near 50 percent chance of not getting anyways had the ping pong balls bounced a little differently, especially when they have many more picks coming, including Atlanta’s first round pick in 2025 in what will be a much deeper draft.
If your biggest concern going forward is Wemby’s happiness with every single move and transaction, then rest assured that so far, he is “so, so happy”.
