The NBA on Sunday will conduct its annual draft lottery at McCormick Place West Convention Center in Chicago. The Spurs have sent general manager Brian Wright and senior manager of basketball strategy and legal affairs Brandon Leibsohn to represent the franchise as it hopes to win the No. 1 overall pick for the second straight year.

Lottery odds
The Spurs have a 10.5% chance of winning the No. 1 overall pick and and a 42.1% chance of landing a top-four pick. They have a 0.6% chance of ending up with the ninth overall pick, which would be the worst lottery outcome.
The Spurs will also receive Toronto’s 2024 first-round pick if it is outside the top six. If Toronto’s pick does not convey this year, the same protections carry over into 2025 and 2026.

How the lottery works
Fourteen ping-pong balls numbered 1 through 14 will be placed in a machine Sunday afternoon, creating 1,001 possible four-number combinations. Prior to the drawing, 1,000 of those 1,001 combinations will be assigned to the 14 lottery teams.
The balls are then mixed and drawn in 10-to-20 second intervals. The team that has been assigned that particular combination will receive the No. 1 pick. The same process is repeated for the second through fourth picks.
