Exceptional
Tony, what does this title represents for you ?
It is rather incredible. I have a hard time realizing it. Three titles in five years, it is exceptional. We make history and I have the MVP trophy in my hands. I won’t let go of it all night long. It incredible and I cannot find the words to express my feelings. Previous Finals MVP are Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan. Never could I even imagine rejoin this group of legends of basketball.
By playing Cleveland, a team that often proved successful for you, you had never thought about it ?
I had about this with my dad prior to Game 1. I told him that I wanted to dominate these Finals, and that it was my turn to take matter in my own hands. I felt I could leave my mark on these Finals. The gap between thinking about making it happen is huge. Finally, I was able to make these important shots.
It is just your trademark to set yourself some goal in order to move up?
It is the only way to keep on improving. The day when I am satisfied with I have, will be the day I retire from the sport. Since I play, I had always done my best to become the best one season after another. I had talked about the NBA, the title, the All Star Game and a second selection and in the end some very good, steady performances in these playoffs. MVP of the Finals was very, very far for me. In my eyes, there only was Tim Duncan who could get this honor.
Now, what can you hope for ?
I do not want to stop here. I still want to win, as it is the only thing that counts. When you are an athlete, you are thirsty for victory. Today, my wish is to aim for back-to-back titles. 2007 is an incredible year; I am an All Star, win the NBA Championships and am voted the MVP and on July 7th I am getting married. This is one year I will remember for the rest of my life.

Q：即使是对阵骑士这支你打得很有心得的球队，你也从未想过拿这个MVP吗？
A：总决赛第一场之前我曾跟我的父亲讨论过这个话题。我告诉他我想支配这个总决赛，是时候轮到我掌控比赛了。我觉得我完全有能力在比赛中留下自己的印记。但想和做之间还有很长的路要走。最终，我为球队作出了贡献。
Q：设立一些目标，让自己不断进步，这就是你的成功之道吗？
A：成功只有一条路——保持着不断地进步。当我对自己所拥有的一切感到满足时，那将是我决定退役的时候了。季复一季，我都一直竭尽全力使自己变得最好。我曾经说起NBA，总冠军，全明星赛，甚至还有，那个第二轮的选秀，结果，大部分都实现了。尽管最后在季后赛中自己的发挥算出色、稳定，但是我还是认为总决赛MVP离我很远，很远，因为，在我眼中，邓肯才是惟一配得上这荣誉的人
Q：现在，你还有什么所求呢？
A：我并不想止步于此。对我唯一有价值的就是胜利。作为一名运动员，你就得充满对胜利的渴望。现在，我的愿望是卫冕。2007年是不可思议的一年：我成为了全明星球员，得到了总冠军，被选为总决赛MV——而且，7月7号就是我大婚之日。在以后的日子里，我将永远都记得这一年，带给我特殊礼物的一年——2007。
