> _San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, left, walks down a hallway at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, following a team practice and media interviews as his team prepares to take on the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals._
>
> The alien is heading back to New York.
>
> Victor Wembanyama will make his return to the Big Apple this weekend for [Fanatics Fest](https://www.fanaticsfest.com/) at the Javits Convention Center, marking his first appearance in the city since the Spurs’ NBA Finals showdown with the Knicks.
>
> While New York ultimately celebrated its first NBA championship in more than five decades, Wembanyama left quite an impression on basketball’s biggest stage. The 7-foot-4 French phenom routinely dazzled fans throughout the series, reminding everyone why many consider him one of the NBA’s brightest young superstars.
>
> After spending time back home in France following the season, Wembanyama is back in the United States fresh off signing a five-year, $252 million rookie-scale maximum contract extension with the Spurs last week.
>
> The reigning unanimous NBA Defensive Player of the Year is scheduled to appear Saturday, July 18, where he’ll participate in a live podcast and one of Fanatics Fest’s interactive games. A ticket into Saturday’s event will cost you about $94.
>
> As of Tuesday, Fanatics reported that 92% of Saturday tickets have been sold.
>
> Wembanyama will be among an A-list lineup featuring LeBron James, Tom Brady, Serena Williams, David Beckham, Jay-Z, John Cena, Aaron Judge, Derek Jeter, Kevin Durant, Novak Djokovic and Shaquille O’Neal.
>
> He’ll also reunite with a few familiar faces from the NBA Finals, including Knicks stars Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart.
>
> New York’s famously “friendly” sports fans will get another chance to greet Wembanyama this weekend. Judging by the NBA Finals, “welcome back” may sound a lot like thousands of people booing in unison.
>
> Then again, when you’re a 7-foot-4 unicorn who plays basketball like he’s from another planet, that’s probably just another day at the office.
