JUST IN: The Orlando Magic will hire Sean Sweeney as their head coach, league sources told @ hoopshype. Sweeney was an associate head coach for the San Antonio Spurs. Prior, he was an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, and Brooklyn Nets.
Sweeney has long been a highly respected coach, so this isn’t the result of one successful year in SA. But as we saw throughout Pop’s tenure, with said success comes losing guys along the bench. He might be the first but probably won’t be the last over the long haul.
Four year deal for Sweeney, per SI. Magic excited about his player development skills. Worked closely with Giannis, Luka, now Spurs young core. Big belief that there is a lot of room for growth in Orlando

One day away from the first Western Conference Finals Game 7 since 2018!
