> _Two former Spurs guards face off in the first round of the playoffs_
>
> [Celtics](https://www.celticsblog.com) guard Derrick White was drafted 29th overall by the Spurs in 2017. He played four-and-a-half seasons with the Silver & Black before being traded to the Boston Celtics for Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, a 2022 first-round pick (which turned into Blake Wesley), and the rights to swap 2028 first-round picks. White has been a difference maker for the Celtics and a large part in during their championship run in 2024.
>
> Last Sunday during Game 1, White led the Celtics in scoring with 30 points with four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
>
> Tonight the Celtics host the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs at 6:00 PM.
>
> Orlando guard Cory Joseph was also a 29th draft pick by the San Antonio Spurs. In this case, Joseph was drafted in 2011. He earned himself a Championship ring as part of the 2014 Spurs redemption title run. He spent four season with the Spurs before signing with his hometown [Toronto Raptors](https://www.raptorshq.com) as a free agent.
>
> With Jalen Suggs out for the reminder of the season after having arthroscopic surgery to remove a cartilage fragment in his left knee. Ever since, Joseph has been the starter.
>
> Joseph had a rough Game 1 dishing two dimes but scoring no points in his 26 minutes of play.
>
> While I realize, of course, that there are eight other players on the court, I’m betting this series would go the same way as a one-on-one against the two former Spurs guards.
>
> Derrick dominates Cory…and the Celtics will dominate the Magic.
>
> Prediction: Celtics in four.
>
> Who am I rooting for: Celtics.
>
> Reason: They still have a great team full of humble players (namely the aforementioned White). While I don’t see them going the distance again this year, I do see them making it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
>
> How about you? Who you rooting for?
